When he called off his Purpose tour a few years back and then took a break from music, the world became worried about Justin Bieber. There was speculation that the Canadian was hooked on drugs and/or struggling with his mental health, but it was recently revealed that Justin Bieber's Lyme disease battle played a major role in his break from the spotlight.
The singer confirmed the news himself in an emotional Instagram post in which he also shared that he suffers from chronic mono.
"While a lot of people kept saying Justin Bieber looks like sh*t, on meth etc. they failed to realize I've been recently diagnosed with Lyme disease, not only that but had a serious case of chronic mono which affected my, skin, brain function, energy, and overall health. These things will be explained further in a docu-series I'm putting on YouTube shortly... You can learn all that I've been battling and OVERCOMING!! It's been a rough couple years but getting the right treatment that will help treat this so far incurable disease and I will be back and better than ever NO CAP," the singer wrote on social media.
Bieber's post caught the attention of plenty of his celebrity pals, including Avril Lavigne — a fellow Canadian who has also spent the last few years fighting her own battle with Lyme disease.
"Sending you love and strength 🙏😇," the "Head Above Water" singer commented on Bieber's post yesterday.
Although the 25-year-old has been candid about his diagnosis so far, fans will be able to learn more about his experience battling Lyme disease in his new docu-series, Justin Bieber: Seasons, which premieres on January 27.
The Stratford-born star is also heading out on tour later this year and will be stopping in four Canadian cities.
