Justin Trudeau Confirms That Canada's Marijuana Legalization Date Won't Actually Be July 1st, 2018

According to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, the start day for legal cannabis in Canada is vaguely set for 'next summer' and not July 1st like everyone had originally thought.

The news comes after Trudeau sat down with Quebec's TVA network on Tuesday. The TV interviewer, Pierre Bruneau, asked Trudeau why he was so obsessed with Canada Day being the date for the the legislation to become law.

In response to the question Trudeau said, "The date will not be July 1, I can assure you of that,” following up with, “I don’t know where that date came from.”

The news comes after many political leaders have pushed for the delay of marijuana legalization while they continue to work out the kinks. There are still issues over taxation, cost per gram, enforcement, and locations where stores will be placed.
