"Kim's Convenience" Simu Liu Says Marvel Can't Hold Him Back From Returning For Season 5

It's not every day that a Canadian actor is whisked off to be the next Marvel star. However, Simu Liu isn't letting any of his new-found fame change other important parts of his life. If there is a Kim's Convenience season 5, the Canadian actor is vowing to keep his role as Jung Kim in the comedy.

Although season 4 of the Toronto based show just began airing earlier this month, fans are already eyeing the future.

Last July it was announced that Liu made history by being cast as Marvel's first-ever Asian-American superhero with his role in the upcoming film, Shan-Chi and the Legends of the Ten Rings.

The news shocked Liu himself who shared his thoughts on Instagram after the reveal.

He went from being an actor on a comedy series that was predominantly only popular in Canada to international fame.

However, he told CityNews that he had "every intention" of returning to Toronto in order to film the fifth season.

He also admitted that he's aware of how "strenuous" his schedule would be while juggling both but that it would be worth it, "This place will always be home, the city of Toronto and even just the store."

According to IMDb Marvel is putting a tentative release date of Shan-Chi and the Legends of the Ten Rings on February 12, 2021.

That means filming for the movie should be taking place sometime this year.

But Liu told the interviewer he's hopeful, "I’m keeping my fingers crossed, we’re all keeping our fingers crossed, that season 5 will work."

The Canadian comedy released back in 2016, follows the Kim family on their adventures of maneuvering city life and owning a convenience store in Toronto

You can catch season 4 of Kim's Convenience Tuesday nights on CBC.
