Lady Gaga had been with ex-fiance Taylor Kinney since 2011 before calling it quits in July 2016. When Gaga shared this emotional Instagram, many fans were confused as to why the two parted ways.
Taylor and I have always believed we are soulmates. Just like all couples we have ups and downs, and we have been taking a break. We are both ambitious artists, hoping to work through long-distance and complicated schedules to continue the simple love we have always shared. Please root us on. We're just like everybody else and we really love each other.

The cap was so sweet and heartfelt that we sincerely thought the two would be getting back together, at least one day. But with Gaga's new documentary officially screening at TIFF, we got some insight into the star's famed relationship. "Me and Taylor are fighting, so that sucks," she candidly revealed, according to People. "My threshold for bullsh*\t with men is just — I don’t have one anymore. In relationships, you have to move together."
Later in the documentary, Gaga breaks down and admits that she and Kinney are no longer together. "My love life has just imploded," she says. "I sold 10 million [records] and lost Matt. I sold 30 million and lost Luke. I did a movie [Bradley Cooper's A Star is Born] and lose Taylor. It’s like a turnover. This is the third time I’ve had my heart broken like this." Gaga confessed, blaming her career for the relationship's demise. The Joanne singer then revealed that A Million Reasons was about her and Kinney's relationship - where singer contemplates leaving a relationship.
Despite the break-up, the documentary details Gaga receiving flowers from Kinney on the day of her big Super Bowl show. "Nothing like flowers from your ex-fiancé on the day of the Super Bowl," she joked. Kinney has also been spotted at a number of Gaga shows since and the two reportedly love and respect one another. As they should.
