Do you have what it takes to be a Jedi? In Canada, there’s a school just for Jedi apprentices who want to become one with the Force.
The Force Academy in Montreal offers unique Star Wars-themed experiences that will teach you the art of light sabre combat. You can choose to do a one-time session, or enroll in advanced classes that will train you in seven distinct fighting forms.
You will be taken under the wing of a Jedi Master who will be highly trained in martial arts. During each 90-minute session, apprentices will engage in warm-ups, technique instructions, development and sparring.
There are also different achievement levels to reach as you progress through the classes. You’ll start off as an Apprentice, then work your way up to becoming a Padawan, Knight and Master. Similar to karate or taekwondo, in order to move up in rank, you must be able to prove your mastery over the forms and undergo examinations conducted by Masters of the academy. One day, you’ll become as good as these guys:
Illuminated light sabres and protective masks are provided, but participants are required to bring their own sportswear, rubber shoes and protective gloves. Advanced classes, which feature 10 sessions, cost $169.95 per person and you can pretty much follow your own schedule.
