Ontarians Want To Split Ontario Into Two Provinces After The Provincial Election
The province is divided.
No matter who you voted for in the provincial elections the internet made it clear that some Ontarians were not happy with the outcome. With only 16 days until Doug Ford is Premier of Ontario, some people are thinking of ways to avoid dealing with him.
One Redditor decided that due to the political difference between the north and south sections of Ontario, the province should be divided into two instead. It also suggested that Ontario's capital city, Toronto, become an independent state like Washington, D.C.
The user created a map to show what the separation would look like if the there was Southern Ontario and Northern Ontario as two provinces. Toronto is also marked out in red to show how much of the GTA would become a city-state.
Users were quick to point out flaws in the hypothetical situation but others took the idea quite well. Others had some more suggestions on how other powerful cities could operate.
One user took the opportunity to make fun of how Quebec and Canada already have beef. They pointed out that Canadians felt like that was ridiculous, so this was a new level of insane.
Obviously, none of these things may ever happen, but it would be interesting to see how Canadians felt about this. Being politically divided justs mean that different resources are needed depending on where you are in the province.
