If anything proves that Vancouver's rent crisis has reached an all-time high, it's this. An unfurnished studio apartment just went on the market in West Vancouver for $2,100 a month, and it's about the same size as a large closet, or a single car garage.
The newly renovated apartment boasts brand new appliances, ensuite laundry and a desirable location near Robson Street. Pets are welcome, and the future tenant will have access to free Wi-Fi, heating and hot water.
But, aside from the astronomical monthly rent, there's a catch. The apartment doesn't have a bedroom, and parking is a jaw-dropping $200 per month. The unit itself is only 259 square feet. In such a tiny space, even living alone would make you go stir crazy after a while.
Pets aren't free, either. You'll have to put down a pet deposit and pay unspecified "additional charges." The lease dates are flexible, but tenants wishing to rent the apartment for under half a year will have to pay an additional $300 per month.
Photos of the property show off the apartment's modern kitchen area, the laundry setup, and the renovated bathroom. But, as far as the sleeping and living areas go, all that's provided is this ambitious-looking floorplan:
The listing says that the building's show suite is ready and available for viewings. The apartment is available as early as November 1st, so you have a few months to get your finances in order before putting down the deposit.
