If you're looking for a Christmas present, what cuter gift is there than a new furry friend to bring home for the holidays? Surprise your girl with a puppy and it's guaranteed happiness. Animal shelters all across Canada have thousands of pets for you to adopt this Christmas season – whether it's a new puppy, kitten, bunny or more!
The Ontario SPCA is hosting iAdopt for the Holidays for the 2018 Christmas season. This national campaign is "focused on positive, real-life pet adoption stories as a means to encourage others to adopt and experience a similar happy ending", according to the iAdopt website.
The holiday adoption campaign is running until December 31st at participating SPCAs, Humane Societies and rescue groups all across Canada – so whether you're on the east or west coast, there's an adorable furry friend awaiting you to bring them home for the holidays.
There are currently thousands of pets up for adoption at animal shelters across the country. According to Barrie Today, last year over 4,000 animals were adopted during this holiday campaign.
This holiday campaign is a huge success again this year. So far, almost 3000 animals have already been adopted from iAdopt for the Holidays.
"Nothing brings joy to a home like the love of an adopted animal who has found a family to call their own," Erin Belsher, Community Development Coordinator at Barrie Animal Centre told Barrie Today. "And with people having time off from work and being home together as a family, the holidays are a great time to welcome a new furry companion and help them get settled".
If you're looking to find a new furry friend to bring home, you can find a participating adoption centre near you on the iAdopt for the Holidays website. There are locations in Ontario, BC, Alberta and more!
