This Movie Got 98% On Rotten Tomatoes And Has A Sex Scene That Will Traumatize You Forever
The film takes a different approach to the art of seduction.
One of the most buzzed about films of this year is Call Me By Your Name, a coming-of-age drama that offers a powerful portrait of an important milestone of life - the first love. The film is an adaptation of a romance novel by author André Aciman which focused on the gay relationship between a young boy and a 20-something student in the 1980s.
Audiences and critics have given Call Me By Your Name superb reviews, and it continues to attract international attention as it filters through major film festivals around the world. It's even managed to get a 98% on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics praising co-stars Timothée Chalamet and Armie Hammer for their captivating performances.
The story is about a 17-year-old American-Italian boy named Elio (Timothée Chalamet), who narrates his recollection of events from one summer in 1988. Elio lives with his family in a 17th-century villa in northern Italy, where he spends most of his days studying classical music. Every summer, Elio's parents take in an student to stay at their house for six weeks. That year, Oliver (Armie Hammer) was the honoured guest.
Throughout the summer, Elio gets closer to Oliver, despite their stark differences in personality. He soon realizes his bisexuality and develops feelings for Oliver. Eventually, the two get caught up in a fleeting summer romance that involves heartwarming moments, some jealousy and confusion, and a lot of R-rated intimacy. Like, a lot.
Perhaps one of the most memorable scenes in the film is when Elio engages in self-pleasure using a peach (yes, a peach). I won't disturb you with the finer details, but let's just say he completes the deed and Oliver has a peach for lunch. Yeah.
There's also a scene in the film where Elio completes the deed (once again), but this time while wearing Oliver's swimming trunks. Not as shocking as the peach, perhaps, but still thought-provoking nonetheless.

Sex scenes aside, Call Me By Your Name is a brilliant demonstration of the universality of love and its role in life. It reminds us that even short-lived moments can have lifelong effects that can either uplift you or haunt you.
The compelling story, stellar performances and incredible vision of director Luca Guadagnino makes Call Me By Your Name a must-see film for all cinephiles.
