The town is so small it is technically considered a village, with a population of just over 3000 people. The village was founded in 1794 and is one of the oldest settlements along the Rideau Canal.
Merrickville is home to over 100 historical sites, which is why you will feel transported to a different time period. Adding to the historic vibe of the town are the artisans who sell their handmade crafts throughout the town.
