The Bachelor's Vanessa Grimaldi Dishes About Her Life After The Show

The Canadian reality star talks about her life after being on The Bachelor series.

Montreal native, Vanessa Grimaldi was the winner of Nick Viall's season of The Bachelor. From the beginning, Vanessa was chosen as the fan favourite that would ultimately win Nick's heart. She is also one of the only Canadians to ever win the American reality tv series!

After getting engaged to Nick, they ultimately decided to go their separate ways, and we haven't seen much of Vanessa since. In an exclusive interview, we asked Vanessa all about her life after The Bachelor and what's she's been up to!

We asked her all the questions that you're dying to know! Why hasn't Vanessa been on any spin-off shows? Does she still speak to Nick? Is she dating someone now?! We have all the answers to those burning questions.

1. Describe a typical day in the life of Vanessa Grimaldi.

It usually involves karaoke at some point, but, my days are mostly focused around planning the next event for my charity, No Better You. I run the charity on my own for the moment, so mornings usually consist of prioritizing what needs to get done for the day i.e. Get back to emails/phone calls, meet with potential partners, etc.

I'm really fortunate to be able to use this platform for something I am so passionate about and I am learning A LOT along the way! Especially with a not-for-profit, I needed to learn how to do the accounting, the social media content, learn about the policies and come up with creative projects. I love what I do, and that is my biggest piece of advice: LOVE what you do and it won't feel like work!

2. What are some of your favourite spots in Montreal? It could be cafes, beaches, restaurants, landmarks etc.

Oh, this is a tough one! I am a big homebody. I love spending quality time with my friends and family in the East End. But, I do love nights out in the Old Port. There are so many great restaurants, Bremner being one of my favourite in the area. I also love stopping by my dad's Bakery, Bemol et Levain – they have the BEST breads, pizzas, salads, coffee...I'm getting hungry! Montreal is one of my favourite places to be during the summer.

I love attending the Just For Laughs Festival, the Jazz Festival, walking around Le Plateau, going to Mount Royal and having a picnic. I love bike riding to Atwater Market, eating poutine at McDonald's (random, but the best), getting a french vanilla from Tim Hortons. As much as I've been bicoastal for the past year, home will always be home!

3. Most Bachelor alums appear on shows like Bachelor in Paradise or Bachelor Winter Games. Have you been asked to join any spinoff shows?

I think The Bachelor franchise has done a great job at helping people cultivate relationships and you see some of these couples off of Bachelor in Paradise still going strong! There's nothing like a great love story! I have been asked to join both spinoff shows, and I always say "never say never", but I don't think I will be joining.

4. If you could be on any reality tv show, what would it be?

Hmmm.. I don't watch TV lol. Unless it's on Netflix, I ain't watching it. But, I would love to be on New Girl with Zoe Deschanel... major girl crush!

5. Have you dated anyone since you broke up with Nick? Are you dating someone currently?

I definitely took time to myself after the break up with Nick. It was really hard on us both and I needed time to focus on myself. Breakups are tough, there is no magically way to mend a broken heart; except allowing yourself to feel. To feel hurt, sad, mad, lost. I have since started dating and it feels good to put yourself back out there!

6. Do you still talk to Nick? Do you keep in contact with anyone else from Bachelor Nation?

Nick and I are on good terms, which I think is the healthiest way to end a relationship. I am so fortunate to have made such genuine friendships from the franchise, not only from my season but from past and current seasons.

7. Tell us more about your initiative, No Better You.

No Better You is a charity I started exactly a year ago. As a special education teacher, I was aware of the little budget we had to help our students excel. It became my priority after the show was done airing to figure out a way to help the community of students I was working with. Once I had finished taping The Bachelor, I went back to teaching and openly spoke with my students on how different my social media world had become. There were nice comments and then there were mean comments.

I remember my students and I having a discussion about other people's perception of you and no matter what people say about you, there is no better you, so love who you are despite what people think. And, that is how the name No Better You came about.

No Better You had its first fundraiser last July 2017 and our goal was to raise enough money to help four schools in the Montreal area. We raised $50,000 and that helped the schools build a sensory room. A sensory room is a therapeutic space designed to develop a person's senses, usually through special lighting, music, and objects. It can be used as a therapy for children with limited communication skills. We are so thankful for all of our sponsors like Ardene, our donors, private donors, and volunteers!

Stay tuned for something really excited that is about to happen in the summer!
