8 Series To Watch On Netflix Canada If You're Obsessed With "Locke & Key"

Aloha!Locke & Key on Netflix Canada captured viewers with its magical 10 episode season. Now that it’s been a few weeks since it premiered, fans might be starting to wonder when and if there will ever be a second season. There’s yet to be any confirmation however, there are so many other shows on Netflix Canada you can watch to keep you occupied while you wait.

If you aren’t familiar with the show, it’s been compared to both Narnia and The Haunting of Hill House in the past. It follows the Locke family moving into their father’s family estate shortly after his death. They soon realize that the house is full of keys that open the doors to the possibility of magic.

The creators of the show have admitted that although Netflix has not given them a definitive decision about another season, they’re already hard at work on a second installment.

Lost In Space

Lost in Space is actually a remake of its 1985 version. There are currently two-seasons streaming on the platform. It follows the Robinson family who crashes their ship on an alien planet and must work together to navigate the dangers of the planet in order to escape.

The Umbrella Academy

The Umbrella Academy, like Locke & Key, was also filmed in Toronto. Based on the comic series written by Gerard Way, this series is about the supernatural Hargreeves siblings, who are forced to reconnect after the mysterious death of their adoptive father.

October Faction

Rating: 20% on Rotten Tomatoes

October Faction is also a newly released series on Netflix. Twins Viv and Geoff have parents who hunt down supernatural beings, with Netflix describing their relationship to one another as “downright monstrous.”

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina

Rating: 84% on Rotten Tomatoes

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina recently released its third season in January 2020 and has a confirmed fourth installment.

The series follows Sabrina, a teen witch, struggling with the decision of whether or not to partake in her dark baptism and become a full witch or to decide to become mundane instead.

Raising Dion

Rating: 82% on Rotten Tomatoes

There’s currently only one season of Raising Dion streaming on Netflix Canada however, a second season has been confirmed. The sci-fi series follows a single mother struggling to both conceal and figure out her son’s newfound superpowers.

A Series of Unfortunate Events

Rating: 96% on Rotten Tomatoes

Unlike the other shows on this list, A Series of Unfortunate Events has the entire show, from beginning to end, streaming on the service.

Based on the Lemony Snicket books, it showcases the Baudelaire siblings who are orphaned after their parents are tragically killed in a fire. They are then forced into a world with evil relatives, untold family secrets, and near-death experiences.

Stranger Things

Rating: 93% on Rotten Tomatoes

If you have yet to join in on the Stranger Things hype, now's the time! The series is currently working on its fourth season. It takes place in the small town of Hawkins where a young boys disappearance uncovers supernatural mysteries all connected to what Netflix describes as “one strange little girl.”


Rating: 75% on Rotten Tomatoes

This Norwegian Netflix original was also released earlier this year. When a town is plagued by pollution, the townsfolk count on what the synopsis says is “a legend to battle an old evil.”
