London Drugs Is Saving Space On Their Shelves Just For Small Businesses In Western Canada

If you’re a small business or you're just looking to shop more locally, you might like this. London Drugs is going to open shelves specifically to give local companies in Western Canada a chance to sell their goods. Anyone who runs a small business can easily apply to put their products on London Drugs' shelves.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many non-essential businesses have had to close their doors. Small businesses are certainly feeling the impact of this unprecedented situation.

In fact, 50% of small businesses have reported that they are unsure if their business will survive COVID-19, explains London Drugs.

London Drugs, however, has been deemed an essential service so its doors have and will continue to remain open.

In a press release posted on the London Drugs website, the large company writes that they understand that local and small businesses in B.C. are in a financially trying time.

This is why they are now allowing small businesses to sell their products on store shelves in an attempt to gain some revenue.

“This is a really hard time for many small businesses, and we are in a unique position where we can really help out,” said Clint Mahlman, President and COO of London Drugs in the press release.

“As an essential service, we are here to help our local small businesses while also providing an opportunity for customers to pick up their favourite local items all in one place.”

In select London Drugs locations, the aisles will begin looking a little different.

Labelled as “Local Central,” these spaces will be dedicated to helping local and small businesses thrive by selling their products.

The products can be anything from coffee to clothing. To get your products on the shelves as a small business, all you have to do is apply online

London Drugs has not confirmed which of their stores will be getting the Local Central aisles but Global News was able to determine that the Canadian company is considering bigger cities such as Vancouver and Victoria.

This is not limited to B.C. as the company specifies online that all Western Canadian businesses are welcome to join in.

As a consumer, you don’t have to leave it up to the business of your choice to apply.

You can nominate small businesses by tagging local companies that you think would be a fit on social media posts from London Drugs.

There has never been a more perfect time to shop local. And since not every business has the means to hand-deliver goods to your door, stocking products on a large retailer's shelf could be a total game-changer.
