Canadian Actress Mia Kirshner Will Star In "The College Admissions Scandal" Lifetime Drama

The film will also star Penelope Ann Miller and Michael Shanks.

If you remember way back to the first few months of 2019, you may recall a few scandals that caught the attention of pretty much the entire world. Firstly was the Jordyn Woods-Tristan Thompson-Khloe Kardashian drama, and coming in only second to that was none other than the USC College Admissions Scandal. Lori Loughlin's College Admission scandal is getting a Lifetime movie starring Canadian Mia Kirshner.

Last Tuesday, the Lifetime network announced its plans to release a two-hour film dramatizing the events that lead up to charges being laid on Lori Loughlin and Felicity Huffman. If you've somehow managed to avoid the scandal up until now, let us fill you in.

Loughlin and her husband, Mossimo Giannulli have been accused of paying $500,000 in bribes to get their two daughters, Olivia and Bella, into the prestigious University of Southern California. The two girls were taken in as recruits for the school's crew team, despite not actually playing the sport. Both parties have pleaded not guilty.

On the other hand, Huffman chose to plead guilty to her charges of mail fraud and honest services mail fraud. She was accused of paying $15,000 to get her daughter into an elite college by cheating on the SAT.

The film is tentatively being called College Admissions Scandal, and according to the press release, it will focus on "the story that captivated a nation where over 50 privileged and elite individuals from across the country were exposed for criminally conspiring to influence the undergraduate admissions decisions at some of America’s top schools.”

Although the press release just came out last week, the film has already been cast. Penelope Ann Miller (RiverdaleAmerican Crime) and Canadian Mia Kirshner (Star Trek: DiscoveryThe L Word) will be taking on the lead roles, but they won't be playing Huffman and Loughlin directly.

“'College Admissions Scandal' will follow two wealthy mothers who share an obsession with getting their teenagers into the best possible college. When charismatic college admissions consultant Rick Singer offers a side door into the prestigious institutions of their dreams, they willingly partake with visions of coveted acceptance letters in their heads. But when Singer cooperates with the FBI and pleads guilty, the mothers who risked everything for their kids, must face the consequences of their crimes and the loss of trust and respect from their families.”

Canadian actor Michael Shanks has been cast in the role of Rick Singer, and although there's plenty of Canadian representation in the film, there has been no confirmation on whether the movie will air on Lifetime Canada.
