A press release from Manitoba Police has confirmed that a two-year-old boy has been killed in Gods Lake, after reportedly being mauled by dogs. The boy was found with serious, life-threatening injuries, and was later pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the report from Manitoba RCMP, Gods Lake police were called on September 23, at approximately 12:45 p.m. following reports that a little boy had been attacked by a number of local dogs in the community.
When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered a two-year-old boy in a wooded area, a short distance from his home. The child was found with several serious and life-threatening injuries. Sadly, he later died at the scene.
Gods Lake RCMP believe that the child had wandered away from his residence when he was attacked by several dogs from the area.

According to the police report, as officers conducted their investigation on scene, members of the community were forced to shoot several dogs that were found trying to return to the area.
In a tweet on Tuesday afternoon, RCMP Manitoba simply explained, “On Sept. 23, Gods Lake RCMP were called to a wooded area where a 2yo child had been attacked by several dogs near his residence. The child was pronounced deceased on scene. Investigation ongoing.”
This is not the only recent case of a young Canadian child expected to have been mauled to death by dogs. On June 29, in the northern Quebec village of Kangiqsujuaq, a small child was found deceased with several bite marks on his body.
Quebec provincial police believed at the time that the young child's death was as a result of dog attacks, as early evidence had suggested that the baby was mauled by the dogs near his home.
Gods Lake RCMP are continuing to investigate the incident regarding the young child in Manitoba.
