Every so often, a new movie comes out that touches audiences like nothing else has before. Whether the film is incredibly relatable, a cinematic masterpiece, or just emotional, it finds a way to resonate with its viewers on a deeper level. One of the most recent films to do this is none other than Marriage Story on Netflix Canada.

About three months ago, Netflix released the trailer for a film called Marriage Story, starring Scarlett Johansen and Adam Driver. For this movie, the streaming service did something totally new — they released two separate trailers, each telling the story from a different character's perspective.

If you haven't heard much about the film, it follows Charlie Barber (played by Driver), whose theatre company is producing a play that stars his wife and former teen actress Nicole (played by Johansen).

Due to ongoing marital problems, the couple decides to attend counselling but unfortunately, this doesn't last long and they end up quitting. As time goes on, Nicole finds herself moving to LA with their young son Henry while Charlie remains in New York.

The nation-wide distance added onto the pre-existing relationship drama only makes it harder for the couple to stay together, and ultimately, an unintentionally messy divorce seems to be the only reasonable option.

The film initially premiered a few months back, at the Toronto International Film Festival, but it wasn't until today, December 6, that Netflix users were able to stream the film.

It's only been out for a few hours, but Marriage Story has already received a certified fresh rating of 97% on Rotten Tomatoes, and people on Twitter can't stop raving about it.

"MARRIAGE STORY is out today on Netflix. It’s one of the best films of the year. I’m very glad I saw it in a dark cinema a couple of weeks ago rather than sitting in my living room so nobody could see me slowly becoming a mess. Adam Driver for Best Actor," one user tweeted.

"Marriage story on Netflix is so good!! Adam Driver and Scarlett Johansson are ridiculously amazing," commented another.

From the sounds of things, the film is very emotional, but incredible nonetheless. If you're looking for other things to watch on Netflix this month, check out Don't F*ck With Cats: Hunting An Internet Killer on December 18, and The Witcher on December 20.
