In the latest instalment of oddly delicious creations that you didn't know you needed in your life, there's Mayochup - a ketchup-mayo hybrid straight from, you guessed it, the United States. Kraft Heinz Canada made a special announcement in a press release on Monday morning that Mayochup has landed in Canada's grocery stores while supplies last. According to Kraft Heinz, "once it's gone, it's gone", so you better get yours quick.
Mayochup is exactly what it sounds like. It's a blend of Heinz Ketchup and Heinz [Seriously] Good Mayonnaise in a squeeze bottle, with a "special blend of spices". As someone who has always mixed their ketchup and mayo the traditional way, I couldn't be more thrilled to give this a try. For condiment enthusiasts, this arguably the biggest deal since bottled Big Mac Sauce.
Canadians can now find Mayochup at their local Loblaws, Walmart, Shoppers Drug Mart, Zehrs, No Frills, Food Basics, Metro, Co-Op, Overwaitea Foods, or Sobeys, subject to availability. It comes in a 560 mL bottle for $4.49 each.
Mayochup sounds like the kind of thing that tastes good with everything, so it will definitely add flavour to your next BBQ. As always, Americans got a taste of Mayochup long before it made its way to Canada. But, if their reviews tell us anything, it's that we've got a lot to look forward to.
