Meghan Markle's Downtown Eastside Women's Centre Visit

It was just days ago that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced that they would be stepping down as senior members of the royal family, but the Duchess has already been spotted out and about around her second home. Just yesterday, Meghan Markle's Downtown Eastside Women's Centre visit made major headlines. As it turns out, the former actress stopped by to discuss ongoing issues affecting women in the community.

After the Queen confirmed that Markle and Prince Harry would be splitting their time between England and Canada, it didn't take the Suits star long to hop back across the pond to reunite with her son, Archie.

Although it seems that the Duke is still in London for now, Markle's been keeping busy, and according to Us Weekly, she was even spotted driving around solo and stopping into a drugstore to run some errands.

Yesterday, January 14, Markle made a stop at Vancouver's Downtown Eastside Women's Centre, "to discuss issues affecting women in the community," according to a Facebook post from the centre's official page.

As friendly as ever, Markle even posed for a photo with some of the staff members in which she looks noticeably radiant and happy while she smiled brightly.

According to its website, "The DEWC is one of the busiest women’s centers in the country, operating a low-barrier drop-in center and emergency night shelter in the Downtown Eastside. By connecting members to a continuum of care and a community, we empower them towards positive change."

"High levels of violence, homelessness, addictions and poverty characterize the Downtown Eastside community. Women and children are particularly vulnerable to exploitation, injustice and injury."

Back in 2016, Prince William and Kate Middleton also visited a nearby centre in Vancouver during their trip to Canada, according to Macleans.

It's unclear exactly when Prince Harry and Markle will be making the move to Canada, or where they'll be staying, but Canadians are beyond excited, to say the least.
