The feeling of biting into a fresh berry of any kind is pretty incomparable. Now that berry season has finally rolled around, you no longer have to pay an arm and a leg to get your fruity fix. That refreshing sweetness and more can be found at Mercier Orchard, home to the freshest berry picking in the state of Georgia.
This family owned and operated orchard is nestled in the middle of Blue Ridge, Georgia. Blue Ridge is home to some of the most breathtaking views (like Monteluce), and Mercier Orchard is no different.
The U-Pick schedule means that for the month of June, you can pick as many blueberries as your heart desires. As we transition into July, blackberries will be the go-to, and August means apples galore.
Admission to the orchard is only $5, and you'll pay $8 for every half gallon you pick on the 300-acres of land. You can take home berries for days at that price, while also receiving a guided tour of the orchard.
Fruit by itself is lovely, but fruit mixed in your alcohol is ten times better. Not only can you pick your own fruit, but you can also sample flights of cider and wine, fermented and packaged right on the orchard.
Your drink of choice may be infused with strawberries, peaches, pear, blueberries, blackberries, and or apple. It'll taste even better knowing you only have to pay $10.
You can't leave the farm without a little souvenir. Their store has a collection of jellies, sauces, butter, and more that you can't find in your everyday supermarket.
If you're looking to go big then you can walk out with one of their famous fried pies instead. $17 for a little slice of heaven is well worth it.
You'll have to circle back around to the orchard on August 24, when they host their second annual Hard Cider and Craft Beer Festival.
Who wouldn't want to come back with views like this? There's ample opportunity to stop by, especially when it's open seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
