The student loan freeze is officially over and as of Wednesday, September 30, Alberta Student loan repayments are now back in effect. 

A six-month pause was placed on student loan repayments and interest charges as people battled what seemed to be the worst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

That freeze started March 30 which means on Wednesday, September 30, borrowers would once again need to start paying that money back.

Student loan payments start back up

So although the break was nice, if you have a student loan, it's time to check your bank account.

Alberta Advanced Education has plenty of helpful information online.

If you think you'll have a tough time making payments, the website encourages you to get ahold of the Alberta Student Aid Service Centre for other options that may help.
