New job alert! If you've ever considered a career in the government sector — or even if you haven't — the Canadian Border Services Agency is hiring some new recruits. And they're hosting three more events in Ontario, starting at the end of this month. Mississauga, Toronto, and Ottawa will see recruiting sessions held and some are open to everyone.

The first Ontario fair will be held in Mississauga this Friday, January 31 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Centre Francophone de Toronto.

It's important to note that while this event is open to the public, it will be held in French.

The following Tuesday, February 4, will be the Miziwe Biik Winter Job Fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Miziwe Biik Aboriginal Employment and Training. This event will be in English but is open only to Indigenous Peoples.

Meanwhile, the third Ontario event will be held over in Ottawa on Saturday, February 8 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the RCMP Stables during the RCMP Musical Ride Open House.

This time, the expo will be held in both English and French and is open to the public.

If you're unable to attend these dates in Ontario, fairs are also being held in other provinces. A full list of other events can be found here.

According to the CBSA website, those selected after the recruitment will attend the CBSA College. There, you'd receive paid accommodations and meals, as well as an allowance to cover whatever basic living expenses needed.

And even at the early stage, the money sounds pretty great.

Trainee salaries start at about $64,000 per year, ranging up to more than $71,000. Once you've completed the program, the annual salary gets bumped up to between $69,000 and $82,000.

If you're unsure what a border services officer does, they stop weapons, drugs, and "inadmissible people" from entering the country.

Personnel work at 1,100 locations across the country. Those include highway crossings, airports, marine terminals, rail ports, and postal facilities, according to the website.

If you're interested in applying, there's also a self-assessment questionnaire to see if you're the perfect fit for the job.

As mentioned above, it's important to note that certain events are seeking specific individuals, but you're always able to apply online as well.

It's also worth remembering that border services is just one area of employment available at the CBSA. Other focuses include science and technology and even student opportunities.
