You Can Road Trip From Nashville To The Longest Underground Suspension Bridge In The World
With warmer weather just around the corner, we need to start thinking about the more important things in life, AKA road trips. There really is nothing like hopping in the car with friends and blaring music while you go on an adventure. This short road trip from Nashville is right down the road and is worth going to check out.
Hidden River Cave is located in Hidden River, Kentucky which is only an hour and a half from Nashville. You will travel deep underground and cross the longest underground swinging bridge in the entire world.
This cave has been around since 1993 and has been a fan favorite since it's first opening. There are above ground adventures and underground ones and you need to experience it all.
This cave used to be solely used for hydroelectricity and water for the entire city, but now it's used for entertainment and as a new place to visit time and time again.
You can zipline across the cave's ginormous sinkhole at 30 MPH or if you're feeling really adventurous, you can repel down into the actual cave to feel like a professional cave diver.
The highlight at this location is going on one of the cave tours. There are 45 to 60 minutes, three-hour or five-hour tours, each one gaining in intensity. You'll go 150 feet underground, which means you'll be encountering many stairs.
Not only does this cave have the largest cave room in the entire state of Kentucky, but it has the longest underground swinging bridge in the world. This is massive and pretty intimidating.
It comes in at about 100 feet long and if you are scared of heights or unsteady bridges, this is not for you. If you are up for it, you can even stop to snap a few pics to prove you conquered it.
Before you leave, you need to explore the museum that this spot has. You can learn all about the caves and how they came to be. This is one museum you'll want to explore.
