‘The Office’ Is Leaving Netflix In The US But Canadians May Be Off The Hook, Here’s Why

Netflix is proving again that being Canadian and being American is an entirely different experience. Not only are our manners different, but our Netflix deals are as well. While that usually means US Netflix gets the earlier releases of shows and movies, this time Canadians may have the advantage. Netflix announced that The Office will be leaving its platform.

In a tweet, the Netflix US account explained how sad they are to see this iconic show leave their platform:

NBC is releasing its own streaming service in 2020, where the gang from Dunder Mifflin will find their new home. The chairman of NBC released this official statement:

"The Office has become a staple of pop culture and is a rare gem whose relevance continues to grow at a time when fans have more entertainment choices than ever before. We can't wait to welcome the gang from Dunder Mifflin to NBCUniversal's new streaming service."

It doesn't seem like The Office is leaving Canadian Netflix anytime soon though. There's been no tweet from their twitter account or any professional statement. While the Netflix CA account did retweet the original tweet, we still have no specifics.

This has happened before with other popular shows. US Netflix recently lost the rights to stream Pretty Little Liars on their platform but it's still on the Canadian service.

Either way, fans are upset and have been responding to the tweet with distressed gifs of Michael Scott:

On the bright side, streaming the series won't be impossible! You'll just have to subscribe to one of the 5000 streaming services that are launching in the upcoming months.
