It's easy enough to forget when your mind is focused on the story unveiling on the screen in front of you, but Canada's film and television industry are quite alive and well, and several productions are being filmed here at any given time. Of the many Netflix Canada January 2020 releases coming at you this month, several shows actually spent much of their production time right here in our beautiful country.

The shows we're talking about may claim that they take place in the United States, but because of Canada's wonderful and diverse landscape, they're able to get away with filming up north.

Since other streaming services launched back in 2019, Netflix has been in tight competition with apps like Disney+ and Apple TV+, but due to their endless flow of diverse and captivating content, the big red N has managed to hold onto its spot as the #1 content provider.

Next time you're looking for something new and exciting to watch on the platform, be sure to check out one of these secretly Canadian (or not-so-secretly, in the case of Anne with an E) shows and keep an eye out for any familiar filming locations that you might've seen in real life before.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (Season 3)

Rating: 82% on Rotten Tomatoes

You may have already known that Riverdale is filmed in Vancouver, but did you know that Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is also filmed in the city and surrounding area?

Filming of part three of the series wrapped a few months back, and the cast is currently working on part four. New episodes of the hit series are coming on January 24.

Spinning Out

Rating: 55% on Rotten Tomatoes

Spinning Out came out earlier this month, on January 1. The figure skating drama was filmed from January 28 to May 16 of 2019 in Toronto, as well as at Ontario's Blue Mountain Ski Resort.

Titans (Season 2)

Rating: 82% on Rotten Tomatoes

Netflix may have cancelled all of their Marvel content, but they did give us DC Titans, which is a pretty solid substitute if you're into superheroes.

The show's first season is currently available on Netflix and was filmed in the 6ix awhile back. The show's second season hits the streaming service on January 10 and was also filmed in Toronto throughout the summer of 2019.

October Faction

Rating: N/A

October Faction has yet to be released, but just from the trailer alone, it looks like it'll be awesome and creepy all at the same time.

The new original series is coming to Netflix on January 23. Filming for the show took place in Cambridge, Ontario back in the fall of 2018.

Anne with an E (Season 3)

Rating: 62% on Rotten Tomatoes

Although fans of the show have been fighting relentlessly for a renewal, Netflix confirmed that the third season of Anne with an E will be the show's last, and it became available on the streaming service on January 3.

Parts of the popular series were filmed on Prince Edward Island, although most of the show was filmed throughout Southern Ontario due to budgetary restrictions.
