Prepare to be unsettled. These Netflix Canada true crime documentaries similar to Lost Girls will give you something to ponder during your next few weeks in. They're all highly rated so you know they're good.

The drama mystery film dropped on the streaming platform last week and revealed to be more than just a true-crime flick.

It follows the murder of Shannan Gilbert, a 24-year-old sex worker from New York who went missing one night.

Her mother Mari went on a quest to find out where her daughter went. That uncovered the murders of another dozen girls who were killed by the same "Craiglist Ripper", a man who found sex workers online and spread their body remains on the Long Island shore. 

The movie stars The Office's Amy Ryan as Mari and even earned itself a 73% Rotten Tomatoes score.

Follow the stories of dozens of Jane Does that are sold on, the "Walmart of human trafficking" focused mainly on young girls. After years of silence, they are finally speaking out and taking action against the illegal website.

Team Foxcatcher

This 2016 crime doc certainly impressed critics. It follows the death of Dave Schultz, an Olympic wrestler part of "Team Foxcatcher" headed by John du Pon whose dark obsession slowly turned into a violent murder.

Roll Red Roll

A perfect score was awarded to this 2019 doc that follows a high school football team in Ohio who are under investigation for a sexual assault case against a teenage girl. Using social media, text messages, and phone calls, investigators unfolded evidence from the team members. They foolishly shared secrets online that incriminated themselves for anyone to see.

Strong Island 

Rating: 100% on Rotten Tomatoes

Another perfect rating goes to this film about William Ford, a young boy who got murdered yet then became the prime suspect in his own case. His family reflects on how this became an act of racism and injustice while they were trying to grieve the loss of their son and brother.
