Over the years, film and television casts and crews have gotten very good at transporting audiences to totally different worlds far beyond their imagination. You may not even realize it while you're watching them from the comfort of your home, but there's a pretty long list of Netflix originals filmed in Canada.

Toronto and Vancouver are known as hot spots when it comes to movie and TV production here, but as it turns out, Netflix has found ways to turn Alberta into a zombie wasteland without audiences even realizing it, which is pretty cool.

Next time you're treating yourself to a Netflix binge session, look carefully at the sets on screen. Does that old building look familiar? Do you recognize that downtown view? It could very well be that Netflix has been filming in a city near you.

Despite being filmed here, a lot of these shows set the scene as if they take place in the United States. But if you know better, you can proudly tell all your friends while you're watching that all the stars were actually hanging out in B.C., Toronto, Alberta, or any of the wonderful places in between during their time on set.
