Close your eyes and think about the best burger you've ever had. If you didn't think of Shake Shack, it's probably because you haven't tried it yet. If you live in NOLA, that is about to change because this brand new Shake Shack in New Orleans opens next month and it's the first one downtown.
Shake Shack is the holy grail of burgers, chicken sandwiches shakes and even cheese fries and it will now be smack dab in the center of NOLA for you to indulge in on your cheat days.
The only other Louisiana locations are in the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport and outside of NOLA in Metaire, which both opened this year.
Shake Shack announced Nov. 21 that the new flagship location on Canal St. will open on Dec. 3 in all its greasy glory. The menu will feature Shake Shack classics like the SmokeShack: a single or double cheeseburger topped with applewood smoked bacon, chopped cherry pepper and ShackSauce™.
If you want to go all out, you'll want to get your hands on the ShackStack made with a cheesy burger patty and a massive fried portobello mushroom stuffed with melty muenster and cheddar cheese.
The chicken sandwich and flat-top dogs are to die for as well, but whatever route you choose, pairing your sammy with their cheese fries is a must. Crispy crinkly fries smothered in a blend of American and cheddar cheese sauce? Yes, please.
The iconic custard concretes are what dreams are made of and those will also be in the house. This location will be mixing its yummy ice cream treats with goodies from local bakeries including Haydel's and Willa Jean.
Everything on the menu is less than $10 so you won't be spending a fortune.
All of these must-haves can be paired with wine and local brews from NOLA Brewing, Abita, Dixie and more, meaning you can turn your burger-eating frenzy into a real party.
For more yummy treats in LA, this hidden sushi spot has over 100 types of authentic rolls starting at only $5. Also check out this Mexi-Cajun fusion eatery with mouthwatering $1 tacos.
