Planning an actual cruise overseas is pretty much out of the picture because, well, money. However, that doesn't blow other fun boating adventures out of the water (pun intended). You can hop on this massive river booze cruise in New Orleans with plenty of drinks and live music this weekend without spending a dime.
The Riverboat Louis Armstrong, brought to you by Hospitality Enterprises, is the newest addition to the Mississippi River in NOLA, setting sail for the first time last month. The boozy cruise ship pays tribute to Jazz legend, Louis Armstrong and it's here to entertain the people of NOLA just as much as he did.
The massive, four-story ship accommodates 3,000 passengers for the party of your dreams. The riverboat, which is one of the largest in the region, is hosting a two-day extravaganza called Hey Louis! Preview Events, where you can climb aboard completely free of charge. The events will take place on Dec. 5 and Dec. 6 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
On Poydras Street, you'll enter a thrilling on-the-water adventure filled with live music from local Jazz musicians, lots to eat and of course, a full-service cash bar stocked with plenty of booze.
Enjoy cocktails from the spacy exterior decks to take in all the fresh air, the serene sound of water and the breath-taking downtown NOLA skyline at sunset.
Additional (and equally fun) events on the Riverboat Louis Armstrong include Gospel Jazz brunches on Sundays, an upcoming New Year's Eve gala and more. Unfortunately, these will come with a charge.
You can also rent out the ship for private parties, events, birthdays, weddings, bachelor(ette) parties and tons more.
This may not be the Mardi Gras Carnival Cruise, but it's still a chance to enjoy food, drink and live music as you float down the river.
Many events in the area go up to $243 per person, so don't miss out on this once-in-a-lifetime chance to party NOLA-style on a mini-cruise ship for free. No tickets necessary.
Speaking of affordable fun in NOLA, hop straight from the ship to the train because this scenic train ride takes you from The Big Easy all the way to California for only $142.
