The Latest Movie In The "Saw" Franchise Was Filmed In Toronto & It Looks Totally Haunting

As far as horror movies go, the Saw franchise is well known as some of the creepiest content out there. The first film came out in 2004 and now, sixteen years later, a new Saw movie Spiral is set to hit theatres later this year. Much like its predecessors, the latest adaptation looks absolutely chilling.
According to IMDb, Spiral stars some major Hollywood celebrities, including Chris Rock (Grown Ups), Samuel L. Jackson (Pulp Fiction), Marisol Nichols (Riverdale), and Max Minghella (The Handmaid’s Tale).
The film also showcases an awesome selection of Canadian talent—Zole Palmer (Lost Girl), Dan Petronijevic (Letterkenny), Nazneen Contractor (Ransom), Edie Inksetter (Shoot the Messenger), and K.C. Collins (Lost Girl).
What makes the movie even more awesome (and Canadian) is the fact that it was filmed in Toronto, according to Entertainment Tonight.
Details about the film have been kept very secret. The IMDb description of Spiral reads “Plot details kept under wraps. Described as a re-imagining of the horror film Saw.” Earlier today, we finally got a look at the project, as the movie’s first teaser trailer was released.
According to ET, Spiral tells the story of a police detective named Ezekiel Banks (Rock) and his rookie partner (Minghella) as they investigate a string of brutal murders that are reminiscent of past crimes. Unexpectedly, Ezekiel finds himself at the centre of a sick game orchestrated by a murderer.

ET also noted that the trailer pays homage to the OG Saw film with a shot of Rock’s character chained to a pipe while holding up a hacksaw. The video also shows a glimpse of the infamous torture device from films past—the bear trap helmet.
The original Saw II director Darren Lynn Bousman was the cinematic mastermind behind Spiral, and original producers Mark Burg and Oren Koules made a comeback for this new project as well.

The new film will be coming to theatres later this year on May 15, 2020. If you’re a fan of the Saw franchise, you know that you’re in for some seriously gory content.
