When you think of what senior citizens might do if they want to earn some extra cash you might think of things like walking small dogs, or trying to sell some homemade food.
Drug smuggler though? Not on the list.
Except for one 77-year-old Canadian man that is, who tried to smuggle over 100 pounds of marijuana across the U.S. border recently.
Nerio Frank Fogazzi of Canada attempted to cross into the United States on May 21 at the border entrance on the Peace Bridge connecting Buffalo, New York to Fort Erie, Ontario.
Fogazzi told border agents that he was traveling to the States to go shopping, but when they asked him where he would be shopping he couldn’t give a location.
So American border agents decided to inspect Fogazzi’s car and in the trunk they found a total of 104 pounds of marijuana.
Fogazzi had tried to hide the pot in quite possible the most Canadian way ever.
He had stuffed most of it into 2 big hockey bags he put in his trunk.
A total of 96 packages containing cannabis were found inside the bags.
More pot was found in a spare tire cavity.
Fogazzi was arrested on charges including importing marijuana from Canada into the United States.
So there you have it, not all senior citizens are not the cute cookie making grandparents you might think them to be.
