The treasure hunt doesn’t have a set end date but will kick off on this Sunday, August 26th.
In this treasure, hunt 100 boxes are being placed along the trail across the whole country for people to find and open.
The lucky participants who find them first will be rewarded with a $100 gift card to Mountain Equipment Co-op, as well as a one-year subscription to Canadian Geographic magazine.
If you don't succeed in finding an unopened box, there’s still some good news! The outside of the box has instructions that will allow you to put your name into a weekly draw for an awesome prize pack of a $250 MEC gift card, a Nikon camera, a SPOT GPS device, a KEEN gift card, and a one-year subscription to Canadian Geographic magazine.
The Trans Canada Trail runs across the country in every single province and most Canadians live within 30 minutes of a section of the trail.
