Andrew Scheer may be the Conservative candidate for Prime Minister, but that doesn't mean that the party leader is all business. In fact, Andrew Scheer's Twitter account features plenty of relatable moments, ones that most Canadians can recognize as something they might even post on their own timeline.
Scheer may spend a lot of time campaigning right now, but he still makes time for his family, friends, and the occasional football game. He also takes the time to show that he is dedicated to causes close to his heart, tweeting out support and remembrance on solemn occasions.
The federal election is taking place on Oct. 21, and while there may be Canadians who don't agree with Scheer on the issues, these relatable tweets at least demonstrate that the candidate knows how to be a good father and how to have a bit of fun here and there.
It's easy for Canadians to forget that their political candidates are people too, and they are not always on the job, especially when it comes to hitting the campaign trail and sitting in Parliament. Andrew Scheer is no exception, and any one of these tweets could prove that he definitely knows how to settle down and get out of politician mode, even just for a little bit!
Meeting Mr. Mugs
Who wouldn't be excited about meeting a dog, right? Especially one who is the star of several children's books. We have to admit that we would probably have big smiles on our faces, too.
Having a bite with friends
Ask anybody and they'll tell you that just hanging around with some good friends and having a bite at the local pub is one of the greatest pleasures in life. Scheer seems to be enjoying it here!
Solemnly remembering 9/11
It's nice to see any federal candidate put politics aside and pay respects to the victims of 9/11. Scheer's message really seemed heartfelt and genuine.
Tweeting a message on World Suicide Prevention Day
The same applies to this tweet, where Scheer is able to step out of campaign mode and send out a tweet about a real issue.
Having fun in a cowboy hat
While there are people who would pass on the opportunity to wear a cowboy hat at any event, Andrew Scheer is not one of them. Here, he rocks the lid at Festival Western.
Showing some love for Bianca Andreescu
Bianca Andreescu's historic U.S. Open victory was celebrated across the country, and Andrew Scheer was among those who took the opportunity to congratulate her on her amazing accomplishment.
Getting the kids ready to go back to school
Andrew Scheer is a dad, and like any other dad, he had to help get his kids ready to head back to school.
Enjoying a football game
Andrew Scheer is a big sports fan, and he especially enjoys a good game of football. His brother-in-law even plays in the CFL!
Taking the family out on the water
You have to give your kids more than you had growing up. For Andrew Scheer, that means taking his kids (who have mostly lived in the prairies) out on the ocean.
Enjoying some family time
Of course, sometimes family time just means enjoying a beach day with the wife and kids.
Manning the grill at Caribana
What would this list be without at least one photo of Andrew Scheer manning the grill? In this case, it was during a stop at Caribana.
