When it comes to online dating, we've all heard our fair share of horror stories. However, this Calgary man's story totally takes the cake. A first date turned into a nightmare for one Calgary local when he invited his love interest to his downtown apartment only to get robbed at gunpoint. Since, the cops have charged the culprits of the Calgary armed robbery, as announced on Monday, April 20.

Calgary Police's post explained that the robbery took place on February 1.

After meeting the woman on an undisclosed online dating platform in January, the man decided to take the plunge and invite her to his apartment in Calgary.

When she got there, she let another man in with her. The unknown man had his face concealed and it's at that point when he pulled out "what appeared to be a handgun," according to the police statement.

They then stole a bunch of stuff from the victim's apartment before forcing him to go to an ATM and withdraw cash.

The victim reported the robbery to the police, who carried out a two-month investigation to eventually catch the culprits.

During the course of the investigation, the Calgary Police arrested the male suspect for an unrelated offence. However, evidence from the apartment showed up in a search of the man's belongings.

The male suspect has been identified as 31-year-old Omar Ahmed. He's been charged with robbery with a firearm and wearing a disguise with intent.

He's scheduled to appear in a court hearing on Monday, April 20, 2020.

The female suspect who lured the victim was arrested during a traffic stop on Tuesday, April 14.

Anthonia Oloya, 20, has also been charged with robbery with a firearm and is set to appear in court on June 29, 2020.

As if online dating wasn't already stressful enough.

This date-gone-wrong shows us that we might have to be a bit careful about who we let into our hearts as well as our apartments.
