Dr. Deena Hinshaw Just Set A Trend With Her Periodic Table Dress
Alberta's Chief Medical Officer is also a fashion icon.
The face of Alberta's COVID-19 response is now a fashion trendsetter too. Dr. Deena Hinshaw's periodic table dress is in high demand after she wore it to a media conference. The creator of the garment has put the piece back into production after she was flooded with requests.
The grey, half-sleeve dress is emblazoned with a green periodic table. Hinshaw wore it to her daily press statement on Tuesday and fans have been clamouring after it ever since.
Trish Tacoma, owner of Victoria-based Smoking Lily and creator of the outfit, told Global News her inbox has been chock-full of requests.
The dress had sold for seven years but was put out of production just six months ago.
On Monday, Smoking Lily closed its doors, in response to. However, with all the requests coming in, the shop is ramping up production once again.
Tacoma says that with all their workers in self-isolation, it could take weeks for the dresses to be finished.
"It's going to be a lot slower, but it's not like we have anywhere to rush off to wear our new dresses anyway," said Tacoma to the Canadian Press.
Tacoma told Global News that 10% of all the proceeds are going to the Mustard Seed Society in Victoria.
