Jason Kenney Told 'Young People' To 'Knock It Off' As COVID-19 Cases Soar
He's not mad, he's just disappointed.
With Alberta suffering a recent spike in COVID-19, Jason Kenney had a simple message to say to rule-breakers: "Knock it off!"
In a recent news conference on Tuesday, July 21, the Albertan premier announced 141 new cases of COVID-19 and two more deaths — totalling in just four days.
So let me be blunt. If you think you can socialize with large groups of people in close quarters, knock it off.
He said that it seemed "some folks" are no longer following the rules, whether they're "young people" thinking they're invincible, or people who were just tired of the whole thing.
Kenney continued: "If you're young and healthy, remember you could still carry and transmit the virus that ends up killing someone who is old or vulnerable."
The premier also shared that 750,000 of those young people will be returning tocome September when the 2020-2021 school year begins.
