A Canadian Man Actually Robbed A Bank By Hiding Under An Umbrella (VIDEO)
That's one way to get away with it.
Is it crazy if it works? One Canadian man was recently caught on video robbing a bank. The weirdest thing about this crime? Instead of using a ski mask or hood to hide his face, the robber got a little more creative. The Burnaby man robbed a bank by using an umbrella.
He covered his face with a massive blue umbrella and somehow, he managed to pull off the heist. The resulting video is hilarious. Now, police are actively searching for the suspect and asking for the public’s help to identify this mystery man.
The incident took place on Monday, September 17, 2018 in Burnaby, at a bank near Canada Way and Boundary Road. According to RCMP, the man walked into the bank with the umbrella on his head. He then approached one of the tellers and threatened them.
His bank robbery was a success and he left the building with stolen cash. RCMP have not disclosed how much money he managed to steal. However, they did say that it was a “small amount.”
While the disguise was highly unusual, it clearly worked! It's been several months now and the RCMP have still not been able to identify the umbrella bandit.
Today, in order to help move the case along, RCMP has released video surveillance of the incident. In the video, you can see the man and his large umbrella barely make it through the door.
Once he is in, you see him walk up to a teller with a bag. After a few seconds, he then leaves the bank. According to the time stamp on the video, the entire robbery lasted only minutes.
