First responders are always ready to come to the rescue, no matter how small the job. Or rather, how small the creatures that need saving. According to the Kelowna firefighter's Instagram page, the heroes came to the rescue of seven adorable and fuzzy baby ducks that fell down a storm drain. All the ducklings were returned to their mom and the photo evidence is beyond cute.

First responders have to answer some pretty unpredictable calls from time to time. While their main priority is helping people, these heroes know no bounds and are always willing to step up the plate and lend a helping hand.

This was demonstrated at around 1 p.m. on Monday, May 18. According to the Kelowna firefighter's Instagram page, several ducklings got stuck in a storm drain in the city.

The crew was called to help lift them out and that's exactly what they did.

Local animal rescuer, Sydney Platz, was on the scene and spoke with Narcity about the adorable search and rescue

She said that on the Monday afternoon, a couple allegedly saw that a mother duck sitting on top of a man whole calling her babies. The babies could be heard underneath.

Unsure of what to do, the couple did what they knew best and called the fire department.

At the time, Platz happened to pass by and saw the crew pulling the fuzzy yellow balls of joy out of the drain.

As a local wildlife rehabber, she felt the need to step in and do her part.

After asking if the crew needed a hand, Platz worked with the team to help get all seven of the duckies out and safe.

The storm drain was about 15 feet deep and altogether, it took the animal-loving team about one hour to finish the rescue mission.

But it didn’t stop there. Platz helped give each little baby a physical to make sure they were okay after their fall.

Luck was on their side and all seven were in great shape even though they had quite an unexpected adventure.

After the physical, the ducklings were reunited with their mom who had stayed by the rescuers' sides the entire time.

Pictures of the ordeal have been posted on Instagram and they are adorable.

In the photos, you can see the rescuers laying on their stomaches picking up each baby one by one.

The ducklings are so tiny that they fit in the palm of their hands.

This is the wholesome story with a happy ending that we all need.
