A criminal investigation is being conducted by officers after receiving a call regarding a Kelowna house doused in gasoline at around 4 a.m.

RCMP have stated that on Sunday, September 13, authorities were called to a residence on the 300 block of Academy Way in Kelowna after an adult male woke up to find a man pouring gasoline around the house.

These two men were known to each other.

The unidentified man was apparently threatening to set the house on fire but the resident managed to flee the scene without any injuries.

Once officers arrived, a 37-year-old man was taken into custody without incident but has since been released on numerous conditions as well as a future court date.

While the scene is being secured and a forensic investigation is underway, RCMP don’t believe that there’s any further danger to the public.
