Get ready to spend some dough, Vancouver. A new casino is headed to Metro Vancouver and it’s seriously huge. Cascades Casino Delta is opening up in Metro Vancouver soon. The massive facility will have 500 slots and several restaurants, so you’ll have your hands full. Mark your calendars, because this casino will be up and running by 2020.
Gateway Casinos & Entertainment Ltd. will soon be the proud new owner of this $70 million casino. It will be located in Delta. Gateway was happy to announce that has received its final approval for the proposed building.
Cascades Casino Delta is set to be located at the old Town & Country Inn site at 6005 Highway 17A. Back in November of 2018, the British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) stated that the City of Delta approved the new gaming facility. Now, the final approval has been given to begin demolition of the pre-existing building.
“I’d like to thank everyone in the community that attended the open houses, presentations, and the public hearing earlier this year. Your input was invaluable and has continued to enhance the project,” said Gateway's CEO, Tony Santo.
This massive unit will include 500 slots and 24 game tables. It will also feature Gateway's signature restaurants, including Match Eatery & Public House, Atlas Steak + Fish and The Buffet.
The $70 million facility will also include a five-story, 116 room hotel and meeting space in order to cater to everyone’s needs. According to Delta Optimist, demolition of the pre-existing building has been underway since April 12, 2019. This part of the construction process is expected to take several weeks to complete.
According to Gateway, the casino is expected to be up and running by next year. BCLC has estimated that the annual revenue to come into Delta due to the new casino would be anywhere from $1.5 million to $3 million.
Gateway’s CEO has estimated that this new facility will create over 700 new jobs. These jobs will be created both during the construction of the building as well as the full operation of the facility.
Altogether, Gateway operates 26 gaming facilities in British Columbia, Ontario, and Alberta. Other Gateway casinos in BC are located in cities such as Langley, Kamloops, and Penticton.
