It's official, Vancouver. David Chang is opening Western Canada's first Momofuku in Vancouver next year and we cannot contain our excitement. If you're not aware of Momofuku or David Chang, we'll go ahead and tell you that this is a huge deal. David Chang's Momofuku Vancouver will be setting up shop in Vancouver House at 1480 Howe St. in 2020 and the new hot-spot will be modelled after the original New York Momofuku Noodle Bar.

Globally-celebrated chef David Chang founded Momofuku in 2004 in NYC. Since then, the restaurant has been credited with “the rise of contemporary Asian-American cuisine” by the New York Times and had the honour of being named the “most important restaurant in America” by Bon Appétit magazine. With coveted titles and awards like that, you can imagine how outstanding this place must be.

Known for its unreal ramen, amazing steamed buns, you’ll want to eat here every day of the week. On top of the mouth-watering food menu, the drinks are equally impressive. Their boozy lychee slushie cocktail is basically a mind-blowing Slurpee for adults.

Momofuku Noodle Bar Vancouver will be located within the stunning Vancouver House building which David Chang actually posted a photo of on Instagram back in January. We should have known his post was more than just a celebration of the building's unique and beautiful architecture.

On the Momofuku website, the brand has officially announced its arrival in Vancouver, noting that "the concept will be based upon the original New York Momofuku Noodle Bar, while celebrating the best products the Pacific Northwest has to offer." Inviting a little taste of NYC with a West Coast twist sounds like an absolute dream come true for Vancity. We are overjoyed to add this hard-hitter to the roster of amazing Vancouver restaurants.

The New York Noodle Bar has an extensive menu filled with buns, creative salads, tons of ramen and noodle dishes, and entrees such as beef brisket. If that's what we are looking forward to in Vancouver, we can consider ourselves blessed.

You may recognize David Chang from his eight-part documentary on Netflix, Ugly Delicious, a series highlighting popular foods and the stories behind them. Chang has called one of “the most influential people of the 21st century” by Esquire and has made a number of T.V. appearances in addition to having his own show.

His cookbook, Momofuku, because a New York Times bestseller and he was the first-ever chef to be featured PBS television show, The Mind of a Chef. This guy is a pretty big deal.

We are beyond excited to eat so much ramen at Vancouver's first-ever Momofuku location. If you're a fan of ramen, steamed buns, or just amazing culinary experiences, you are going to want to check this out.

Though exact launch dates have not yet been announced, our ears are to the ground.
