St. Patrick's Day is always a good party. In 2020 it was more like a party from home. Vancouver was under a public health emergency and all the bars and clubs were closed. It seems like the only ones who had a party in the city on Tuesday, March 17 this year were the otters at the Vancouver Aquarium.

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, B.C.'s health officials ordered places to close that couldn't maintain social distancing. The raucous party that would have been St. Paddy's on downtown Vancouver's Granville strip was cancelled.

Thankfully, at least one group of revellers got to enjoy a party. Every now and then, the adorable otters at the aquarium get spoiled with icy treats and cakes made out of fish paste.

The aquarium shared the otters' latest escapade via their Instagram stories on Wednesday, March 18 and it's exactly what we needed right now.

The video clips show three of the aquarium's curious otters investigating a pile of goodies left for them.

A massive white cake topped with a four-leaf clover that's almost twice as big as one of the otters is proudly displayed and one of the cute residents of the aquarium seems delighted with it and paws at it to investigate.

They will often get a little extra something in the summer to help them beat the heat.

Plus, for holidays like Valentine's Day, no one forgets about the otters, and they get the fishy version of a box of chocolates.

For anyone stuck at home, they can enjoy these videos plus tune in anytime to the live feeds so you can go under the sea from right on your couch.

"If you need some paws-itvity today, check out what our trainers and O'tters got up to for St. Patrick's Day" reads their IG story post.

"Our otters are doing well and continuing to have enrichment opportunities, as seen in the video. The treats are made with ice and shrimp paste - a delicious treat for our O'tters on St. Patricks!" said a rep from the Aquarium to Narcity.

The aquarium is closed to the public right now, but you can still follow them on their channels for all the most adorable otter updates and to see what else is happening.
