Do you think the city of Vancouver is a friendly place? Well, looks like other parts of the world sure do. The friendliest city in the world is Vancouver as declared by popular travel website, Big 7 Travel. Yes, you read that correctly, the friendliest city in the entire world. Agree or disagree, it seems Vancouver people have made a serious impression on the global community.
Big 7 Travel released their list of friendliest cities in the world for 2019 earlier today and Vancouver rose to the top of the rankings along with just one other Canadian city, Montreal.
Big 7 Travel asked their social audience of 1.5 million people “Where you would find the friendliest city in the world?” From the responses they received, they made a list of the top 50 cities.
Here are the top 10 friendliest cities according to their findings:
- Vancouver, Canada
- Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
- Bruges, Belgium
- Taipei, Taiwan
- Hamburg, Germany
- Dublin, Ireland
- Christchurch, New Zealand
- Nashville, Tennessee, USA
- Sao Paula, Brazil
- Glasgow, Scotland
As for Montreal, they’re sitting at number 34. Some other honourable mentions include the expected metropolises like Tokyo, New York, Singapore, London, and Sydney. To think Vancouver landed above these extraordinary places really gives us a burst of gratitude for this place. It’s pretty great, after all.
Speaking of Vancity, here’s what Big 7 Travel had to say about us: “The city has an amazing multicultural community who band together to make visitors feel welcome and safe at all times. Locals are quick to offer assistance to tourists and the community vibe makes socializing in Vancouver simple.” Isn’t that just the sweetest.
While some Vancouverites may argue that it's hard to make friends in the city or even try to find a good date, it seems like we're overly friendly when it comes to tourists.
So, Vancouver, we hope this makes you feel happy and humbled and gives you a little extra inspiration to live up to the title of friendliest in the world.
Stay friendly, Vancouver!
