The province is smashing every record after they barreled past 5,000 total COVID-19 cases in B.C. over the weekend.

In her update on Monday, August 24, B.C. provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry announced a total 269 cases of COVID-19 over the previous 72 hours.

We need to minimize our new cases.

From Friday to Saturday, Henry reported 109 new cases of the disease; this beats out the previous daily record of 100 on Friday, August 14.

The currently active cases also reached a new high at 913, breaking past the 900 mark for the first time in history.

However, the province is pushing back; they recently released stricter guidelines against gatherings, rolling out $2,000 fines for those who break the rules.
