Gas prices are set to drop just in time for the long weekend, so get ready to hit the pump and take advantage of the good news! Prices are expected to go down anywhere between 2 to 4 cents at midnight. The drop in Canada gas prices is due to prices of oil falling by about 3 percent on Aug. 2,  while the world price for oil has dropped by 7 percent.

This is after the U.S. Federal Reserve cut interest rates on Wednesday, which had a direct correlation to gas prices dropping. Gas price analyst Dan McTeague says that because of this, most of Canada will see a significant price drop at the pump.

The current average gas price in Canada sits at 126.9 cents/litre. With the 4-cent anticipated drop, we can expect gas to be at 121.9 cents per litre by Saturday, Aug. 3, 2019.
