Family Of Baby Who Fell From The 11th Floor Of A Cruise Ship Are Now Blaming The Cruise Line For The Accident
The family states that the window should not have been opened in the first place.
Last Sunday a tragic accident took place on a popular cruise line that travels throughout Canada. While vacationing on the Royal Caribbean Crusie, a baby plunged to her death after her grandfather accidentally dropped her from the 11th floor of the cruise ship while it was docked in Puerto Rico. The family of the baby that fell from the cruise ship is now blaming the cruise line for the tragic accident.
On Sunday, July 7, 2019, it was reported that an 18-month-old American girl was under the care of her grandfather in the dining hall of the Royal Caribbean cruise ship when she fell through an open window to the concrete floor below.
reported that the grandfather sat the little girl on the open window sill before she fell through the window of the 11th story. It is believed that the child died upon impact.
According to CTV News, it was originally reported that the girl slipped from her grandfather's grip during this incident. Now, the family is disagreeing with this statement, stating the cruise line is to blame after the girl fell through a window that should have been closed.
According to CTV, the grandfather is claiming that he lifted the 18-month-old girl onto the windowsill so that she could look out the window, something that often kept her occupied. While lifting her onto the window sill, the grandfather failed to notice that the window was actually open.
The family now says the little girl went to go bang on the glass window, something that she has done so many times in the past, however instead, she lost her balance when no glass was present and ended up falling through the window of the cruise ship.
A spokesperson for the family states that the incident occurred due to the negligence of the cruise line and that no windows should be left open in an area where so many children are present.
While the cruise line has stated that it is 'deeply sadden' by the death, it has not made any comments on the allegations towards this incident being negligence on the cruise ships part.
At the time of the incident, the cruise ship was docked in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and police in Puerto Rico are still investigating the incident.
The father of the 18-month-old is an officer at the South Bend Police Department in Indiana and the department has offered its condolences to the family during this difficult time.
