You won't want to miss it.
Going to IKEA is usually a lot of fun, but it's going to be a lot more festive in the next month. IKEA's Chinese New Year (or Lunar New Year) celebration will be taking place in January. It's something you definitely won't want to miss, even if you don't need any new furniture.
What can you expect from this yearly celebration? Of course, it wouldn't be an IKEA celebration without some great food.
As much as you might like the, you'll want to try their Lunar New Year specials, which will be available in for a limited time.
These combos include Chinese food staples like sweet and sour chicken, pork spare ribs, and chicken balls. Each combo plate comes with sides that include spring rolls, fried rice, vegetables, or pork fried rice.
Combos will cost $8.88, a nudge to the importance of the number 8 in Chinese culture.
However, the exact offerings will vary by store.
For example, at the Richmond, B.C. location, customers can treat themselves to a dim sum combo or braised beef stew from January 18 to 26 — these will cost $13.88.
With these combos, IKEA Family members will also receive a traditional red envelope with a surprise inside.
Customers can see availability for these meals at their local store's website.
To go along with the feast, the home goods company is introducing a new SOLGLIMTAR collection as part of its Lunar New Year Event.
It includes tablecloths, utensils, lighting, decorations, and a number of other home accessories all with great looks inspired by.
The new items draw inspiration from peonies, narcissus flowers, and plum blossoms, bringing the look and spirit of the Lunar New Year right into your home on any occasion.
This collection is available at stores in Vancouver, Richmond, Toronto, and North York. You'll have to visit a store to get them, as these items are not available online.
Finally, a traditional lion dance will be taking place in some locations, starting at the entrance and weaving its way throughout the store.
This will be taking place on January 18 at 1 p.m. at IKEAs in Coquitlam and Richmond, and January 25 at 5 p.m. and January 26 at 3 p.m. at IKEA in North York.
