If you're like us, you can find it hard to make evening and weekend plans sometimes because of your furry friend. When you're going out for a drink, you generally have to make prior arrangements for your doggo and it can drastically restrict your social plans. Well, that could be about to change as a proposed Ontario law change would allow dogs on patios at bars during the outdoor season.

This proposed reversal is among several changes that the province is considering focused on alcohol consumption. Ontario is also venturing the idea of lifting some booze restrictions in places like airports, where it's suggested bars should be able to serve 24 hours a day.

Just a few months ago, dogs were banned from patios across Canada due to health inspections in Halifax. However, according to CTV News, the proposal would allow dogs on restaurant patios as long as they are supervised by their owner.

This new proposal could also see dogs welcomed into breweries where only beverages and "low-risk, pre-packaged foods" are served.

Dog-friendly establishments already exist in Ontario, of course, but there are in limited supply. In big cities like Toronto, there are lots of places where you can bring your adorable pups, while you wine and dine at certain restaurants across the city.

However, under the proposal, restaurant owners and operators would now have the opportunity to decide for themselves if they want to bring a dog with them onto a patio.

Of course, this wouldn't give dog owners free rein to bring them wherever they choose. If your pup's a loud yapper, for instance, you might have a hard time convincing bar owners to allow you to stay.

All in all, though, this sounds like great news for the province's huge doggo-obsessed population!

According to a release by the government of Ontario, Prabmeet Sarkaria, the Associate Minister of Small Business and Red Tape Reduction, proposed this change as one of over 80 actions aimed at eliminating unnecessary or outdated rules and streamlining regulations.

Other changes that have been proposed, in addition to allowing dogs on patios and 24-hour bars in airports. Those include Ontarians having the chance to bring home as much alcohol as they want from other provinces.

To be honest, though, we're most excited about the potential of having a cold drink with our pup by our side.

So, if you're unable to go anywhere without your furry friend, your life could be about to change.
