A politician and a sports club owner getting into an altercation at a Rolling Stones concert almost sounds like the start of a weird joke that your dad might tell. However, it seems that nobody in Ontario is laughing, as people across the province are calling for Cabinet Minister Lisa MacLeod to be fired after she allegedly verbally abused Ottawa Senators owner Eugene Melnyk at a concert last week.

According to Melynk, he was minding his own business at the Rolling Stones concert in Burl’s Creek last week when MacLeod approached him and began a tirade of insults. He reports that MacLeod shouted at him, “Do you know who I am?” To which the Senators owner admitted he didn’t.

It was then the Cabinet Minister is reported to have yelled, “I am your minister and you’re a f*cking piece of sh*t and you’re a f*cking loser." Before cutting Melnyk's protests off with an aggressive, "F*ck you!"

As the altercation made headline news on Friday morning, MacLeod addressed the incident on Twitter as an explanation, rather than an apology.

The Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport said, "Let me set the record straight, I gave [Eugene Melnyk] some feedback at the Rolling Stones concert and I apologized to him for being so blunt." She added, "I have serious concerns about the state of our beloved Ottawa Senators! We need to get our team back on the road to winning the cup!"

Despite her attempt at settling things, neither Melnyk nor many Canadians were satisfied with her response. In fact, Melnyk was so unhappy that he made contact with Ontario Premier Doug Ford, telling him, “You’ve got a loose cannon out there. That’s not the way you talk in public at a public event. You better take care of this."

Based on the reactions from many Ontarians on Twitter, it seems that Melnyk was not the only one to feel this way, as some people are now calling for MacLeod to be fired.

On Friday afternoon, Laura Stone tweeted, "NEW: Ontario Liberal caucus calls for the suspension of Lisa MacLeod from the Conservative caucus Statement from Liberal MPP [Michael Coteau] “Premier Doug Ford needs to remove Lisa MacLeod as a cabinet minister and suspend the Minister from caucus."

This was met with support from Canadians, with one Twitter user responding, "Absolutely. Lisa MacLeod said she was speaking in an official capacity. She has taken no true responsibility. This is a typical pattern of behavior for her. This cannot be tolerated."

There has been no official word as of yet from Ford, or his office, in response to the incident at the concert.
