Today's the day! After months of campaigning, the time has finally come for Canada to make a decision on the next Prime Minister. The 2019 federal election day has arrived, and across the country, eligible citizens can head to the polls to cast their votes. Today is the very last day to participate in the vote, so it's important to get your ballot in before polls close. Unfortunately, getting out to vote isn't easy for everyone. If you're worried about how to get to a voting station, you can enjoy a discounted ride to make your journey a little easier! Lyft's election discount is available in Ottawa and the GTA, and you can save up to 50 percent off your ride.

Voting can be complicated enough without worrying about transportation, and with Lyft's discount, you can get to your voting location while saving some money. On the company blog, the rideshare service reported that 48% of people who didn't vote in the 2015 election cited health problems and life demands as the reason for not participating. Twenty-three percent of non-voters claimed they were too busy.

To help eliminate these obstacles, Lyft is giving out 50% discounts on rides to the polls in the GTA and Ottawa.

They have also partnered with United Way Greater Toronto to offer free rides to those who need it most. They are also working with Apathy Is Boring to give free rides to youth with mobility issues.

In order to access the discount, you can use the code VOTE1021CA when travelling to a polling station. Lyft states that you can get up to 50% off your ride. However, it's important to note that the offer is only valid for up for $5.

The discount is available between 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 p.m. today only. The discount is valid for up to $5 off your ride to the nearest station. There is a limited quantity available, so get to the polls soon. Happy voting!
