Ontario's famous winery town really wants its peace and quiet.

A proposal for a strict noise ban in Niagara-on-the-Lake calls for strict rules and $350 fines for those who break them.

The ban would include things like a "persistent barking or whining sound" from your pet, musical instruments and basically any human sound besides talking at night.

Yelling, shouting, hooting, whistling or singing.

CTV News points out that a petition has already been started against the proposed ban and is quickly reaching its goal of 2,500 signatures.

A ban on singing is a rule that Ontario has already implemented this summer, in bars and on patios. The reason, however, is to limit the spread of COVID-19.

Two summers ago, a cottage town also announced a ban on shouting, whistling, and singing. However, it was enforced all day long, instead of only at night.
